Friends of New Beginnings Family Academy, Inc.

Friends of NBFA, Inc. is the support organization and steward of charitable funds for New Beginnings Family Academy (NBFA) public charter school in Bridgeport, CT. Charter schools are public schools of choice that work independently from the local school district. This autonomy allows charter schools flexibility in staffing, curricula, length of school day/year and other critical areas.

Founded in 2002, Friends of NBFA supports the academic success and character development of mostly low income students of color at New Beginnings Family Academy. We do this by raising funds for general operating support of the charter school; supporting programs and services that help prepare students for future success; advocating for favorable charter school legislation including equitable funding; sharing news and information through large and small events, tours and the media; and coordinating volunteer opportunities and internships.
