Marin Center for Independent Living

MISSION

Marin Center for Independent Living ( Marin CIL) is a peer-led, community-based disability rights non-profit that provides services and support for people living with disabilities and older adults.

Marin CIL’s mission is to assist persons with all types of disabilities to achieve their maximum level of sustainable independence as contributing, responsible and equal participants in society.

Marin CIL offers the following;

• Person-centered planning and care coordination for resources including independent living skills, peer support, benefits navigation, the personal assistant registry, and Information and assistance.
• Housing preservation including assistive technology, home modifications, housing and referral, landlord and tenant advocacy, and nursing home transition.
• Disaster relief services including COVID-19 response, disaster preparedness, and wildfire safety.
• Advocacy and assistance including Bob Roberts Client Assistance Fund, Mary Mathews Breast Advocacy Project and individual and systems change advocacy.

Marin CIL has a $2.2 million operating budget with eighteen staff members. Since 1979, Marin CIL has been serving over 1000 community members per year and has experienced a 20% growth in needed services in the last year. Our disaster relief services and care registry programs have been a big part of this growth.
