Christian Community Action, Inc.

Offering help, housing, and hope to people who are poor in New Haven (and, sometimes, beyond New Haven) is the mission of Christian Community Action. Inc. CCA hs been a place of hope, a voice of reason, and a light in the darkness during difficult times.

Since 1967, CCA has provided emergency food, heating, nationhood assistance and motel assistance programs, a diversion service in the Hill Section of New Haven and apartment style emergency housing assistance through its 17 apartment Hillside Family (Emergency) Shelter (HFS). In July 2023, CCA opened its New Higher Opportunities, Purpose and Expectations (HOPE) Program, an 18 impartment Moving to Work Program, as a collaboration with the Housing Authority of New Haven

With a focus on families that are homeless or in need of temporary motel assistance, CCA has been successful with supporting all family members through coaching, employment, budgeting, referrals to other organizations that can offer services, including two generational programming and access to permanent housing.

CCA has also engaged in grassroots and policy advocacy, to remove systemic barriers to securing housing, employment and child and family services.
