A Rosie Place for Children (ARP) is a state-of-the-art respite facility designed for medically fragile children ages birth to 21 years and is a place of belonging that is safe and nurturing. Simply stated, a child who is medically fragile requires medical intervention (ventilators, feeding tubes, respiratory treatments) for everyday living. They typically suffer from a variety of serious medical conditions that require round-the-clock care by their parent(s). ARP offers these caregivers’ periods of relief by providing overnight skilled respite healthcare for their child(ren). This is an extremely underserved population of children and families, with a variety of complex medical and physical complexities, which is why A Rosie Place for Children was created and opened its doors in 2011.

Our primary program is specialized respite care to medically complex children. Our typical census is 6/7 children per “stay”. Stays range from 3 to 10 days. The days of service offered are determined by what best fits the needs of the families we serve. Services are offered at no cost to families. We are the only of its kind in Indiana. We foster the child’s development in an integrated approach through gross/fine motor sensory play, exploration of surroundings, and opportunities to build relationships with one another.
