The Outdoor Academy is a SACS-accredited (Southern Association of Colleges and Schools) semester school program for talented 10th and select 9th and 11th grade high school students located in the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains of Western North Carolina. Students come to The Outdoor Academy from all over the country to participate in a hands-on, college preparatory curriculum highlighting theenvironmentalworldstewardship and place-based learning. Students live in a small, boarding style environment, focusing on communityand character development. Students also gain outdoor leadership skills and experience through rock climbing, whitewater paddling, caving, and backpacking excursions.
