    Core Purpose:

To inspire and prepare young people to succeed in a global economy.

JA programs offer a wide variety of people the opportunity to apply their expertise to the educational needs of our communities' students from kindergarten through the 12th grade in an effective and fun way.

    Who we are:

Like many not-for-profits, the culture of JA Worldwide is a decidedly mission-driven one. From the board of directors to senior management to staff members, the JA community is filled with dedicated professionals committed to delivering its programs of hope and opportunity to students around the world.

Through the key content areas of entrepreneurship, financial literacy, and work readiness, JA inspires students to succeed in a global economy. We reach 8 million students each year around the world. Our success stems from great people who are team players and share a common enthusiasm for the great mission of this organization.

Volunteers are the core of Junior Achievement's impact in the classroom. For one or two semesters per year, you as an individual can take your place in the classroom as a role model teaching a JA class. You can choose the grade level and even the class location by selecting an available school close to your home or office. "Team Teaching" accommodates business volunteers who travel. Parents and even college students can teach elementary JA classes. Trained volunteers visit classrooms for about 45 minutes once a week for 5 to 8 sessions, depending on the grade level. The volunteer uses his or her own experience in conjunction with the JA curriculum to teach about business principles, decision-making and critical thinking skills. Junior Achievement provides all materials, training, and volunteer support. Visit www.jadallas.org to sign up today!

    Our Approach:

Our approach is simple yet highly effective. JA facilitates a powerful partnership between business and education: JA develops the innovative K-12 programs; schools provide the access; the business community provides the financial support and volunteers to deliver the hands-on curriculum to students. Our key stakeholders include:

Teachers, who open their doors to this unique dimension of learning; Volunteers, who are the heart of Junior Achievement's learn-by-doing approach; and Investors, whose generous support turns classrooms into incubators for our future workers, leaders and entrepreneurs.

    Our Reach:

Using our unique approach, JA plans to reach 38,000 students during the 2009-2010 school year throughout the Dallas area. To accomplish this, we will mobilize more than 2,600 dedicated, well-trained volunteers this year, ranging from CEO's to college students to young professionals to retirees. These volunteers serve as invaluable role models by helping students to understand the important role that education plays in their future success.

    Purpose & Values:

The envisioned future ... what we aspire to become. Junior Achievement maintains an active vision, front and center, on how we can have a positive impact on the lives of more students - guided by our core values:

-Belief in the boundless potential of young people -Commitment to the principles of market-based economics and entrepreneurship -Passion for what we do and honesty, integrity, and excellence in how we do it -Respect for the talents, creativity, perspectives, and backgrounds of all individuals -Belief in the power of partnership and collaboration -Conviction in the educational and motivational impact of relevant, hands-on learning.
