Our Circle

The mission of Our Circle is to advance legal and lived equality for diverse families, and for those who wish to form them, through building community, changing hearts and minds, and driving policy change.

The Our Circle Team envisions a future where all LGBT families, regardless of creation or composition, live in communities that recognize, respect, protect, and value them. We envision a Belizean society in which every LGBT person has the right and the opportunity to form and sustain a loving family, regardless of sexual orientation, gender identity, race, religion, national origin, geography, socioeconomic status, disability, or the intersection of those characteristics.

Our Circle is a legally registered NGO which has been engaged in numerous community-driven initiatives aimed at mobilizing, educating, informing and supporting the LGBT community and LGBT families in Belize. From since 2013 we have been focused on:

1. establishing an LGBT safe space
2. LGBT family education and awareness
3. organizational networking, and
4. institutional capacity building

In August 2017, we officially opened a Community Resource Center to serve as a home base for Our Circle and to provide a place where everyone in the local LGBT community can come together. We still remain the only established safe space for the LGBT community and their families in the entire country of Belize. The Our Circle Resource Center provides a true home for the LGBT community, where all are welcome and all can access an ever-growing variety of programs, support services and ways to connect.
