The 1st Annual Tribe City Festival, sponsored by Imprint City, will kick off July 16th, 2016 and showcase a stellar lineup of Bay Area and national musicians, vendors, and artists. This festival has been designed to reflect the theme urban village, calling for international recognition of the importance of collective efficacy throughout the African Diaspora. We define a tribe as a conscious community of minds reaching back to antiquity and forward to the stars. Our mission is to expand this tribal philosophy in an urban landscape as a way promote unity and generate love and healing. Many people in Black and Brown communities in Western Society have been disconnected from their native culture, language, and customs instead adopting an individualistic way of being in order gain access to resources. At this time, there is a heightened awareness of the way Black people in this country are unjustly murdered by police, face the highest rates of poverty incarceration, and health disparities. These inequities point to a direct need for community building in the Black community. Specifically, it’s important to provide a space for Black people in San Francisco, who are less than 3% of the total population, to come together to build and discuss collectivism as a form of liberation. The day-long free festival will also feature a selection of film screenings, interactive workshops, fine craft vendors and live painting by Bay Area artists. Local Black-owned restaurants will also serve their healthy and delicious fare at the festival. A special event for all ages, Tribe City Fest also caters to families with kid-friendly activities and programming.Tickets start at $0, however, there is a suggested $5 donation. please use the link provided to gain ticket confirmation to show upon entry to the festival. **Please note that no one will be turned away due to lack of funds
