Mission, Goals and Objectives Metro Organizations for People (MOP) was founded in 1978 with the mission of empowering ordinary people to strengthen and transform their communities through community organizing. The community organizing process begins locally with member churches, schools, youth and neighborhood associations. MOP trains volunteer community leaders to re-weave the web of relationships in community so that they can effectively work together across race, class and language barriers to rediscover a common good leading to a higher quality of life for our families, children and neighbors.
MOP is currently comprised of 37 member congregations, schools, youth and neighborhood associations representing 55,000 people in the six county metro Denver region. MOP is affiliated with The PICO National Network, a 33-year-old network of community organizations based in 18 states and 150 cities nationally and now in six countries in Central America and Rwanda.
