Coalition for Hispanic Family Services - Arts and Literacy Program

The Coalition for Hispanic Family Services Arts and Literacy Program builds critical thinkers and culturally fluent citizens through writing, visual arts, theater, photography, film, movement/dance and music/music production studies. Alongside the creative, project-based curriculum, the program offers art therapy (individual, group and community works sessions), family cultural events trips and paid apprenticeships for neighborhood high school students. This work is all done through a holistic wrap-around approach for which the Coalition for Hispanic Family Services is known. The approach allows the under-resourced communities we serve to utilize their self-reliance and developed skills to fortify and strengthen neighborhoods. It offers an apprentice program for youth to explore career and the world of work. It uses the same holistic, culturally sensitive, client-centered approach that is the hallmark of all Coalition programs.

The agency and program operate and offer services to families and communities throughout Brooklyn and Queens. Our school host sites are located in Council Districts: 37, 34, 33, 25, 21, 27 -- encompassing multiple diverse neighborhoods and communities.
