First Voice International

First Voice International is a Washington, DC-area-based non-profit international development organization striving for a world of information affluence for all, in which there is the means for local voices to be heard, regardless of location, education, or wealth. To this end, FVI integrates a variety of appropriate information communication technologies to facilitate the sharing of practical information amongst underserved communities. Endowed with 5% of the WorldSpace Corporation satellite network covering Africa and Asia, FVI delivers information to remote populations using cost-effective and locally-maintainable systems. FVI utilizes its satellite capacity to broadcast both audio programming and computer-based data to its target areas and includes a variety of other technologies such as AM/FM radio, Internet, and mobile phones to maximize reach and impact.
