Fundación Misión Gaia

Misión Gaia, is an independent non-profit organization whose main purpose is to develop educational, social and productive activities, that support a sustainable environment. We work to improve people's living standards in rural communities, we strive to preserve natural resources for future generations.

OUR MISSION

We develop participative actions to empower local communities in the sustainable use of their environment, increasing educational levels to improve their standard of living, ensuring the availability and diversity of resources over time.

OUR VISION

We envision united communities that protect diversity, develop low-impact environmental processes, promote awareness of conservation and responsible consumption as well as encourage respect for nature.

Where we work

We work with rural communities in the Colombian Caribbean and the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta, the highest coastal mountain range in the world, which reaches 5.700 m and has a complex network of ecosystems. The area is home to more than 300 bird species - of which nearly 20 are endemic. This unique environment is sacred to the indigenous communities and must be preserved and protected.
