AFSCME New England Organizing Project

The New England Organizing Project (NEOP), affiliated with AFSCME, builds unions of higher education and healthcare workers. We currently represent four local unions with a total of more than 8,000 members at Harvard University, UMass Memorial Health, UMass Chan Medical School and the Cambridge Health Alliance and we continue to organize new groups of workers. Our mission is to create and share a model of modern unionism focused on building one-to-one relationships of trust with each member, whether we are organizing new unions or working with our existing union locals. NEOP unions fight for economic progress, workplace democracy, and flexibility and work-life balance. We seek collaborative labor-management relationships wherever possible, as a path to expanding our members’ voice at work. Our four union locals have each created their own culture to fit their unique workplace, but we are connected to each other by our history and our mission. NEOP unions are strongly committed to diversity, equity, and inclusion.
