Descripción

Job Description:

As a Program Manager, you play a critical role in helping Marcy Lab achieve its organizational goals: as an instructor, coach, and team lead, you create the conditions to allow MLS Fellows to thrive and equip them to obtain highly compensated engineering roles at leading tech companies. Your responsibilities include the following:

  1. Train fellows to be effective professionals and leaders by delivering high-quality and timely instruction and feedback (40%).
  • Collaborate with the Director of Leadership Development to design and enhance a Leadership Seminar Curriculum that equips fellows with a foundational understanding of the subject material.
  • Hold informed anti-racist perspectives and a deep understanding of systems of privilege and oppression. You feel comfortable leading conversations about equity, identity, race, ethnicity, gender, and sexuality.
  • Possess the knowledge necessary to assist individuals in making informed and effective career choices. You feel comfortable leading conversations about career exploration, resumes, networking, interviewing, and more.
  • Close knowledge gaps through rigorous reading, research, and study. You stay updated with the latest developments to ensure your instruction remains current and relevant.
  • Utilize instructional design and various teaching methods to deliver effective instruction.
  • Provide feedback that is timely, constructive, specific, and actionable, which helps learners identify areas for improvement.

2. Support fellows in achieving academic and professional goals through leadership, mindset, and career coaching (40%).

  • Foster strong relationships with Fellows to understand their strengths and challenges and inspire and motivate their progress in the Software Engineering Fellowship.
  • Hold regular coaching, feedback, and support conversations with Fellows, celebrating their achievements, surfacing areas for growth, and providing support to close their gaps.
  • Work with the cohort team to develop strategies that address the cohort's individual and collective needs.

3. Chart Fellows’ academic and professional growth by maintaining and updating existing tracking systems and filling data gaps by building new tracking systems (20%).

  • Collect and enter data into tracking systems accurately and efficiently, utilizing your proficiency in database software or systems to store, retrieve, organize, and manage data effectively.
  • Track and analyze metrics of student success, including, but not limited to, attendance, assignment submission, assignment timeliness, and assignment score. Identify fellows’ individual and group strengths and assess and respond to areas for continuous improvement.
  • Maintain clear and organized records of data sources, methodologies, and changes to tracking systems.
  • Utilize existing data to create interventions and systems that support fellows in persisting and succeeding in the program.

This list represents a high-level summary of this role and is not comprehensive. Additional projects and responsibilities will be added depending on the skillset and tenure of the employee.

Qualifications

  • You have experience providing individual counseling and/or coaching to young people of color, ages 14-25, with an emphasis on monitoring students' physical, social, and emotional well being.
  • You are an incredible professional communicator and ready to coach our fellows to becoming one as well.
  • You may not know a thing about the tech space but you are a hustler who is willing to learn.
  • You have a bold commitment to equity and uplifting Black and brown communities, as well as a comfort with and commitment to regularly having conversations about race, class, gender, sexuality, and other identities.
