    POSITION SUMMARY

    The Advocacy and Patient Engagement Associate ensures the smooth and effective functioning of PHA’s advocacy, support and education programs, with a primary focus on our peer-to-peer support programs. The Associate serves as a main point of contact for patients with pulmonary hypertension and their families. They maintain strong relationships with PHA’s volunteer network by managing the support group meeting reimbursement process, promoting meetings, fulfilling material orders and responding to other volunteer needs promptly and courteously.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Serves as a main point of contact for patients with pulmonary hypertension and their families. Communicates with patient, family and health care professional volunteers to troubleshoot challenges and support their success.
    • Coordinates with PHA’s Finance team to provide advance funds and reimbursement to PHA Support Group Leaders for leaders’ meeting expenses.
    • Builds support group meeting attendance by providing administrative support for the support group program, including but not limited to adding planned meetings to PHA’s event calendar, pulling mail and email lists for meeting promotion and sending reminder emails.
    • Coordinates with vendors to track and fill orders for PHA’s Navigating Pulmonary Hypertension booklet and other materials.
    • Identifies ways to enhance and streamline PHA’s customer service to our volunteer network.
    • Contributes to department and organizational activities such as data tracking, reports, goal setting, budgeting, and identifying ways to improve internal processes.
    • Schedules meetings and provides other support functions for PHA’s International Program, at discretion of CEO.
    • Special projects in support of PHA’s advocacy and patient education programs. Including but not limited to:
      • After comprehensive training, acts as a designated backup for calls to PHA’s insurance program during high-volume call times.
      • Sends follow up correspondence to legislative offices after annual legislative event.
      • Tracks advocacy activities in PHA’s database after appropriate training.
      • Collects speaker information for webinars and breakout sessions and creates speaker information packets.
      • Provides administrative support with patient education webinars such as launching the webinar and assisting with chat management.

    KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

    • Minimum 2 years administrative experience. Bachelor’s degree a plus.
    • Delivers high-quality work in a dynamic organization under time constraints.
    • Outstanding customer service skills that reflect a commitment to PHA’s core values.
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
    • Strong phone etiquette and comfort making phone calls and holding phone conversations.
    • Proficient with Microsoft Office suite.
    • Familiarity with iMIS or similar database system.
    • Experience with MailChimp a plus.
    • Spanish proficiency a plus.

    REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS

    Reports to Director, Advocacy & Patient Engagement 

    WORKING CONDITIONS

    Fully-remote. Occasional travel required. 

    SALARY RANGE

    $45,000 - $50,000

    Many individuals with pulmonary hypertension are immune compromised or at risk of potentially fatal complications from respiratory infection. Therefore, employees at the Pulmonary Hypertension Association are encouraged to receive vaccinations such as COVID-19 and influenza to safeguard constituents.

    • Minimum 3 weeks paid annual leave (15 days); all federal holidays (11 days); and 4 personal days plus office closure for winter break (5 days at end of year).
    • Two weeks paid sick leave.

    • Employer 403b retirement plan contribution at 4% after first year of employment with immediate vesting.
