    Reports to: Executive Director

    Location: Virtual Office/Remote, with frequent onsite activities in Richmond, CA

    Richmond LAND’s mission is to build grassroots power for resident-driven and community-controlled land-use through community organizing, land acquisition, development, and stewardship of land and affordable housing for long-term community benefit.

    Summary

    Richmond LAND is hiring for a Community Engagement Manager (CEM) to execute programs, campaigns, and activities that help engage and empower residents to reshape housing justice, real estate development, urban planning and land-use in Richmond and Contra Costa County. The CEM is responsible for facilitating, educating, and coordinating a CLT membership of various member types to participate in the organization’s programming that activates residents to engage in neighborhood activation efforts, community planning/development, and in local advocacy efforts.

    This position will represent Richmond LAND’s mission, vision, and values to the broader public, and interface with a range of community stakeholders, intermediaries, government officials, and community-based organizational leaders to represent the interests of our base and the organization's points of unity. This position will be responsible for communicating Richmond LAND’s work in various platforms and spaces throughout the City of Richmond and West Contra Costa County.

    The Community Engagement Manager will join the organization's leadership and support the Executive Director in shared management, decision-making, general office support and the carrying out of administrative responsibilities wherever appropriate.

    Key Responsibilities and Results Desired

    Membership Operations & Program

    • Implement community driven membership framework for Richmond LAND
    • Serve as primary point of contact for interested community members
    • Develop and document collective decision making processes and conflict resolution practices for membership
    • Organize members, including outreach, recruitment, orientation and retention of members
    • Coordinate the development of the vision, agenda, goals, and strategy for members to participate in Richmond LAND
    • Facilitate at minimum 3 member meetings a year including leading the Annual Member Meeting
    • Manage and assist in the execution of resident programs and advocacy activity grounded in arts, culture and organizational strategies.
    • Facilitate and guide members to participate in collective acquisitions
    • Lead community & resident education efforts around CLT model and shared housing ownership structures
    • Design and facilitate resident capacity building curriculum to engage resident members of Richmond LAND in collective co-stewardship

    Project Management

    • Collaborate with Real Estate Manager to create agreements for property management, asset management, and governance agreements for CLT preservation projects
    • Collaborate with the Real Estate Manager to develop project marketing plans to market affordable housing opportunities to low-income households
    • Establish goals, milestones, work plans, and accountability systems for project management
    • Design and maintain a work plan and timeline for programming activity to ensure proper management and resource allocation.
    • Provide project reports that include; updates, data, outcomes, and needs
    • Design and establish community-driven processes and standards for community visioning, development, community land trust real estate, and programs that include education and training to residents, partners, and key stakeholders.
    • Implement systems that will lead to effective internal and external communication systems, strengthen outreach, and strengthen collaboration, participation, and engagement.

    Communications

    • Understand, uplift, and connect the work of Richmond LAND to the public
    • Represent Richmond LAND in priority movement building spaces
    • Document narratives to amplify the story of Richmond’s just transition work
    • Implement annual community engagement plan
    • Create Richmond LAND’s content and materials for the public
    • Maintain & managing social media accounts
    • Distribute ongoing online newsletter & community digest
    • Work with Staff & Consultants to maintain Richmond LAND’s website
    • Enhance Richmond LAND’s visibility by being active in the community and by working closely with other professionals, leaders, and stakeholders.
    • Represent Richmond LAND in external meetings and spaces under key areas of focus, build strategic relationships, and explore new potential collaborations.

    Minimum qualifications

    • Commitment to the organization’s mission and vision
    • Personal connection and lived experience in Richmond or West Contra Costa is strongly desired, but a deep commitment to empowering Richmond/West County residents to lead the transformation for community-controlled land-use, housing, and real estate development is a must
    • Ability to adjust schedule for evening and weekend activity as needed
    • Familiarity with popular platforms such as; gmail suite, zoom, social media accounts, asana, mailchimp etc

    Compensación

    RichmondLAND offers a comprehensive benefits package including covering the cost of 90% medical coverage, dental, and vision. Employees receive two weeks of PTO, paid holidays, in addition to the last week of the year off.

    Retirement and other benefits will be determined with Staff
