Social Services Supervisor

Job Description

The Social Services Supervisor position will support and oversee the service providers who work directly with justice impacted people enrolled in all New Leash programs. Position will be required to perform duties in both Philadelphia and Delaware County, PA. In addition, this position will facilitate workshops and direct services at the George W. Hill Correctional Facility in conjunction with the Social Services Advocate as well as fill in for other program providers when needed.

Experience and Qualifications

• Service Oriented: A strong desire to help other people is essential.
• Active Listening: You must give clients your full attention whenever meeting with them.
• Verbal Communication: Your clients will be depending on you to convey information to them, their families, and other service providers in a clear and concise manner that they can understand.  Knowledge of the Spanish language is a plus.
• Interpersonal skills: Strong social skills are essential to connect with people who have had past trauma and unstable environments to make them feel comfortable and confident in theSocial Service Advocate’s ability.
• Must be eligible to work within a prison environment. Two background checks and fingerprinting are required. 
• Candidates with lived experience will be strongly considered.

Education

LSW, LCSW, or MSW

Other degrees and certifications may qualify if they are associated with practical skills in the field of social work or counseling.

Essential Duties

• Provide support, weekly check in and supervise  the Social Service Advocates, Employment Specialists and student interns
• Facilitate life skills/career readiness workshops
• Provide individual client services (case management)
• Attend status hearings and stakeholder meetings as needed
• Coordinate recovery homes and substance use and mental health treatment providers
• Research and provide options for housing referrals 
• Develop and continue to seek out evidence-based models that will enhance groups, program activities, and services.
• Perform social services staff profound reviews
• Engage and attend stakeholder and coalition meetings
• Oversee participant internship partner sites
• Oversee student internship partner sites
• Utilize volunteers to appropriate client services’ tasks 
• Review and update information into Apricot software system
• Work with Senior VP of Programs to evaluate existing programs, protocols and materials
• Create protocols to ensure that services are maintained at highest level
• Adhere to funding restriction requirements, deadlines and budget approvals for programs
• Communicate challenges and issues to SPV of programs
• Additional assignments as required
