    Position Objective:

    As the Development Manager, you will play a pivotal role in driving our fundraising initiatives, ensuring smooth event logistics, and creating meaningful relationships with donors and community members. The Development Manager will lead efforts in logistics, fundraising, and the organization/event execution of up to (7) walks across the country for our Walk for Victory Program.

    In addition, the Development Manager will ensure fundraising goal achievement through the effective leadership, engagement, empowerment, mobilization, and stewardship of diverse partners, constituents, and volunteers. The primary responsibilities include working with the Marfan, LDS, and VEDS communities to build and educate fundraising walk teams, work with volunteer chairs, and secure sponsorship for assigned walks.

    Essential Functions:

    Fundraising Strategy and Execution:

    • Recruit and manage key community, hospital and corporate leaders to establish Walk for Victory monetary goals based on market potential by leading and implementing comprehensive fundraising strategies to achieve revenue goals.
    • Acquire, cultivate, and maintain relationships with donors, community members, and sponsors to secure financial support for the organization's Walk for Victory program and other special events.
    • Build and maintain pipelines on previous and prospective donors in donor management systems that will grow the Walk for Victory Program and other special events.
    • Utilize data analysis and fundraising best practices to identify new donor prospects, work with volunteer leaders on new leads and develop tailored approaches to donor engagement and in new or increased sponsorships with hospitals and corporations.

    Planning and Execution:

    • Establish weekly touch base with Team Captains and Top Fundraisers in assigned Walk area charting gap to goal.
    • Develop timelines in concert with goals and objectives for each walk event.
    • Build strong relationships with sponsors, teams and individuals to retain and upgrade their financial involvement.
    • Continue to establish new teams and cultivate new sponsors to reach the highest level of revenue.
    • Develop a profile of businesses in the assigned geographic area with a plan to involve them in the Walk for Victory.
    • Lead in planning, coordinating, and executing Walk events, ensuring all logistics are handled effectively, including venue selection, permits, vendor management, and community participant registration.
    • Guide volunteer recruitment, training, and management for key community and corporate leaders ensuring a positive, seamless walk event experience and establishing monetary goals based on the potential of all participants.
    • Establish, build, and cultivate relationships with new Walk teams and new sponsors to reach the highest level of revenue generation and upgrade their financial involvement.
    • Develop timelines in concert with goals and objectives for each walk event.
    • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design Walk event experiences that align with the organization's mission and inspire community participation.
    • Develop and execute personalized communication strategies with MarCom team, including but not limited to, donor thank-you notes, and impact reports, to keep donors informed and engaged with the organization's work.

    Other Responsibilities:

    • Collaborate with your development team and the marketing/communications team to develop promotional materials, social media campaigns, and press releases to raise awareness of fundraising walk events and drive participation.
    • Collaborate with Marketing/Communications teams to utilize various marketing channels to attract sponsors, donors, and participants and expand the organization's reach.
    • Track and analyze fundraising metrics, event participation data, and financial performance to evaluate the effectiveness of fundraising strategies and event outcomes.
    • Prepare comprehensive reports for management, donors, and board members to showcase the impact of fundraising efforts and Walks events.
    • Monitor expenses and revenue closely to ensure financial targets are met and resources are allocated efficiently.
    • Consult and collaborate with the VP of Technology and the Salesforce Data Coordinator, on list pull queries and emails for online and traditional outreach.
    • Prepare timely, specific, and relevant materials for development meetings and conversations.
    • Attend weekly development meetings.

    Competencies:

    • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and writing skills, with the ability to build rapport and maintain positive relationships with donors, sponsors, volunteers, and staff.
    • Proven experience in fundraising, event planning, and logistics management in the nonprofit sector.
    • Demonstrated success in developing and executing fundraising strategies that increase revenue, particularly in the peer-to-peer fundraising space
    • Strong project management skills with the ability to oversee multiple initiatives simultaneously.
    • Strong analytical skills, with the ability to interpret data and use insights to inform decision-making.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, Asana and PowerPoint.
    • Proficiency in using fundraising software Classy and Classy Live, Salesforce CRM system, and other relevant tools.
    • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality of donor information.
    • A team player who is adaptive, has a sense of humor and is comfortable working for a small organization with a roll-up-your-sleeves environment, preferably in a nonprofit.
    • Motivated self-starter and enjoy a collaborative environment.
    • Are flexible and take on ad hoc tasks with a can-do attitude.
    • Passion for the organization's mission and dedication to making a positive impact on the community.
    • Proficiency in basic graphic design using Canva or similar tools.

    Education & Experience:

    • Bachelor’s degree
    • Three years plus development experience, preferably in the nonprofit environment
    • Familiarity with 501(c)3 structure and demonstrated success in fundraising for 501(c)3 nonprofit organizations.

    Work Environment:

    • Remote
    • Works closely with supervisor, other department leaders, and staff. (Daily zoom meetings)
    • Very collaborative, team environment
    • 15-25% travel is required to support Fundraising and programmatic community events, some evenings and weekends included.
      • 36-48 hours+ of WEEKEND travel will be required for every Walk you oversee
      • 5 Day Marfan Foundation Retreat (November)
      • 1 Week (July) Marfan Foundation Conference
      • Plus, travel for additional Foundation events and staff meetings.
    • Participate in virtual events and programs, which may be nights and weekends, as needed.
