    New Voters Project Organizer

The Student PIRGs’ New Voters Project is hiring Organizers to run non-partisan voter registration and get-out-the-vote campaigns in states across the country to ensure young people are full participants in the political process for the Fall 2024 elections and beyond.

Our democracy only works when we all participate. Young people are the largest and most diverse group of potential voters in the country, with our own values and our own ideas. Yet, our generation isn’t showing up to vote in high enough numbers. In the fall of 2020, the Student PIRGs’ New Voters Project made nearly 400,000 peer-to-peer personal reminder contacts in the weeks leading up to Election Day, and we saw that hard work pay off with record turnout among young people, and we’re keeping up this momentum in 2024.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Run a non-partisan voter registration and turnout campaign in one or more campus communities, alongside passionate student activists.
    • Recruit and train a team of volunteers to help register 18-29 year olds, collect pledges to vote, and follow-up with people on their pledges to turn out the vote on Election Day.
    • Build a coalition. Work with student volunteers and interns to build a diverse, invested coalition of organizations and people to boost youth voter turnout.

    Qualifications

    We’re looking for candidates who

    • Have a demonstrated commitment to civic engagement issues, and a track record of leadership.
    • Are goal-driven and results-oriented.
    • Have excellent communication skills.
    • Are driven, work well with all kinds of people, and aren’t afraid to get outside their comfort zones.
    • Are passionate about making positive change. Change takes time, and is often incremental; we’re looking for people who are excited to work hard every day, even if it’s just for one small step in the right direction.

    Compensation and Benefits

This position is through after the November elections. Pay and benefits are prorated for the length of your position, based on this target annual package: The target annual compensation range for this position is $32,500-$41,690 and depends on location, experience, and start date. About Student PIRGs

We believe in the power of young people to build a better world. From civil rights to protecting the environment, students are often at the forefront of movements to build a better future for our country. Whether or not those students make real progress depends on whether they are organized, have the skills to be effective, and have a strategic plan to get things done.

The Student PIRGs have been working for over 50 years to amplify the power of student activism, and help students make real change, right now. Our chapters and clubs on college campuses across the country provide the training, professional support and resources students need to tackle climate change, protect public health, revitalize our democracy, feed the hungry and more. We all want to live meaningful lives in a world that's greener and healthier, so we help students get organized, mobilized, and energized to make that vision a reality.

    About the New Voters Project

The Student PIRGs’ New Voters Project, a student-led 501(c)(3) organization with 4945(f) status, has run peer-to-peer young voter mobilization drives to turn out the youth vote on college campuses for more than 30 years. We believe that the full participation of young people in the political process is essential to a truly representative, vibrant democracy. The New Voter's Project does not endorse, either explicitly or implicitly, a political candidate or political party for elected office. Our goal is to engage as many students as possible in each and every election cycle in order that our generation be represented in the political process, regardless of ideology or political affiliation.

    Our Mission and Values

The Student PIRGs work closely with The Public Interest Network, which operates and supports organizations committed to a shared vision of a better world and a strategic approach to social change. Visit https://studentpirgs.org/core-values/ to learn more about our values when you apply.
