    About I Be Black Girl

    I Be Black Girl (IBBG) is a reproductive justice organization in Nebraska that leads with boldness, innovation and inspiration, actively creating a radical change-making culture that centers Black women, femmes and girls. Inspired by the work of bell hooks, Audre Lorde and other Black feminist and womanist, our organization provides transformational change at the intersections of gender and race. The term “I Be,” framed by author bell hooks in Be Boy Buzz, inspired IBBG’s founder to fill spaces with what it means to exist as a Black woman, femme or girl—where we are free to define and own that narrative.

    About the Position

    Are you passionate about civic engagement and community outreach? We are seeking enthusiastic and dedicated Paid Canvassers to join I Be Black Girl in our Beyond the Ballot campaign. In this role, you will play a crucial part in empowering community members by providing nonpartisan information about the election and assisting them with voter registration through door-to-door interactions.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Door-to-Door Outreach: Engage with community members at their homes, delivering clear, unbiased information about upcoming elections and the importance of voting.
    • Voter Registration: Assist eligible individuals in registering to vote, ensuring they understand the process and have the necessary information.
    • Information Distribution: Provide educational materials on voting, including deadlines, voting methods, and the significance of participation in elections.
    • Data Collection: Accurately record interactions and provide feedback on outreach efforts
    • Community Engagement: Foster a positive and informative environment, answering questions and addressing concerns about the voting process.

    Qualifications:

    • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with an ability to build trust and relationships across diverse communities.
    • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends
    • Access to reliable transportation
    • Ability to walk and/or stand for prolonged periods of time
    • Access to reliable technology and/or a working cell phone with access to data to use while canvassing
