    The Scope

    We are looking for an engaged Country Requirements Manager who brings solid expertise and a passion for FSC’s mission, to work with us in a multinational environment.

    FSC establishes global standards for responsible forest management, adapting requirements locally through collaboration with Network Partners. The Performance and Standards Unit oversees this process. Your role will involve assessing the rigor and relevance of country-specific requirements, contributing to FSC's global implementation, and learning about diverse forest management practices and stakeholders worldwide. You'll engage in discussions with various interest groups and recommend standards for international approval. We seek detail-oriented professionals who excel in in-depth document reviews, can balance minute details with a global perspective, and have a drive for deep specialization.     Main Roles & Responsibilities

    • Perform thorough content assessment of assigned country requirements against international criteria for rigor and the level of allowed country adaptation. These assessments include:
    • Forest stewardship standards (setting the rules for obtaining forest management certification).
    • Risk assessments to forest stewardship standards (influencing the rigor of auditing).
    • FSC risk assessments for the purpose of sourcing controlled material and EUDR.
    • Coordinate the assessment timelines and priorities with a process portfolio manager.
    • Conduct necessary conversations with developers of the content under assessment.
    • Actively participate in the calibration of content assessments with colleagues engaged in similar activities to ensure highest possible level of standardization and the uniform application of FSC requirements.
    • Develop and maintain assessment documentation.
    • Present the contents and the results of the assessments in various fora, as necessary.
    • Participate in FSC internal competence and accreditation program.
    • Other duties assigned by the respective Program Manager.

    Your profile

    Education and Training:

    • A minimum of MSc degree in forestry.
    • Other degrees are a strong asset (e.g., Ecology, Natural Resource Management).
    • PhD degree is a very strong asset.

    Working Experience, Style and Skills:

    • 3 to 5 years of professional experience in one or more of the following areas: Forest management, Natural Resource Management, Certification, Monitoring and Evaluation, Standard Development.
    • Documented experience with documentation review and proven records of document management.
    • Very strong review and document evaluation skills: ability to understand complex contents and assess its relevance and applicability in a given context using standardized approaches.
    • Ability to make long documents clean and consistent, ability to maintain the contents and editorial styles consistent across various documents. (NOTE: or Publications).
    • Very strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
    • A very strong sense for diligence and accuracy.
    • Proven successful project management experience.
    • Excellent time management skills: Ability to perform well while handling simultaneously several administrative and support functions.
    • Service and solution-oriented attitude to work.
    • Proactiveness and high level of engagement.
    • Administration skills.

    Digital Skills – good skills in the use of/experience with:

    • Standard software packages (MS Office 365; excellence in MS Word).

    The Fine Print

    • Location: Remote
    • Working Hours: Full time - 40 hours per week.
    • Duration of Employment: Temporary contract - 2 years.
    • Starting Date: As soon as possible.
