    Riverside Immigrant Services & Empowerment (Riverside) is an immigrant integration center in New York City that supports the economic mobility and social inclusion of newly arrived immigrants, refugees, and asylum seekers.

    OUR MISSION

    To help new immigrants successfully integrate into life in the U.S. by rapidly improving their English language skills, providing wrap-around case management and counseling, and offering workforce development skills building, a digital literacy clinic, and civics instruction. These supports and skills ensure that Riverside program participants are better positioned to access job training, employment, higher education, and other opportunities.

    POSITION DESCRIPTION

    Riverside seeks a part-time Development Associate to support the organization’s fundraising efforts to build capacity and expand programs and services. This is an exciting opportunity for a passionate, motivated professional interested in advancing their career in nonprofit fundraising.

    The Development Associate will report to the Executive Director.

    The successful candidate will be highly detail-oriented, computer savvy, able to manage multiple projects simultaneously, and able to work both collaboratively with the team and autonomously at times. The responsibilities of this role include:

    Fund Development

    • Process donations and prepare acknowledgment letters and other correspondence.
    • Create monthly fundraising reports and dashboards.
    • Send appropriate documentation to process contributions from supporters.
    • Manage Kindful CRM and communicate accordingly with various stakeholders (Board of Directors and Executive Director) with updates.
    • Maintain foundation, corporation, and individual donor files (on the database and cloud drive).
    • Conduct preliminary research on prospective corporate, foundation, and individual donors.
    • Reconcile donations with the Finance Team monthly.
    • Handle all administrative details associated with fundraising (i.e., draft documents, set up meetings, coordinate events).
    • Coordinate production and mailing of year-end appeal letters.

    Events and Volunteers

    • Maintain guest lists, gather and prepare registration materials, and perform other duties as assigned for fundraising events.
    • Collect and track volunteer hours.
    • Organize volunteer events in collaboration with the Executive Director.
    • Manage logistics and provide on-site support for the annual International Food Festival.
    • In coordination with the Executive Director and Board of Directors, prospect sponsorships for the annual event.

    Communications

    • Prepare public-facing materials for distribution (i.e., copying, filing, mailing, e-mailing).
    • Assemble media and donor kits for events and meetings.
    • Other duties as assigned by the Executive Director.

    Requirements

    A successful candidate will have some combination of the experience and skills listed below:

    • An understanding and commitment to the organization's mission of supporting and advancing the immigrant community.
    • Bachelor's degree in a related field. A minimum of three years experience in a fundraising position, preferably in a not-for-profit development office.
    • Ability to communicate clearly, concisely, and professionally—both verbally and in writing as well as strong interpersonal skills.
    • Experience composing clear and compelling formal communications (appeals, narrative drafts, acknowledgments).
    • Ability to efficiently manage several projects simultaneously while prioritizing to meet respective deadlines; strong organizational and time-management skills are key.
    • A proactive task manager and problem solver.
    • Experience working with CRM databases.
    • Experience working with operational budgets, Excel spreadsheets, and PowerPoint/Google Slides presentations.
    • Experience with email clients (Constant Contact, Mailchimp, Squarespace, WordFly)

    SALARY AND BENEFITS:

    Riverside is committed to practicing salary transparency. The salary range for this part-time position (19.5 hrs per week) is $32,000 - $40,000.
