    JDC has an excellent opportunity for a nonprofit operations professional who sits at the intersection of finance and development to be our next Director of Gift Processing & Analytics. This role will oversee and manage the organization’s gift processing and donor database management functions. This includes managing all aspects of gift processing, including the receipt, recording, and acknowledgment of all donations. This role is responsible for ensuring the accuracy and integrity of our donor database, as well as providing strategic insights through data analysis to enhance our fundraising efforts.

    What will you do as a Director of Gift Processing & Analytics?

    Gift Processing

    • Oversee the processing of all philanthropic donations, ensuring they are recorded accurately and promptly.
    • Ensure that all donations are acknowledged in a timely manner, adhering to the organization’s acknowledgment policies and procedures.
    • Coordinate with the finance department to reconcile gift data and ensure accurate financial reporting.

    Database Management

    • Oversee management of the donor database, ensuring data integrity, security, and privacy. This includes regular data cleaning and updates.
    • Implement best practices for data entry and management, ensuring consistent data entry protocols across the organization.
    • Coordinate with IT and other relevant departments to ensure the database is up-to-date and functioning optimally.

    Analytics

    • Develop and implement data analysis strategies to support fundraising efforts.
    • Provide actionable insights and recommendations to improve internal reporting in conjunction with the Fundraising and Budget departments
    • Collaborate with the fundraising team to understand their data needs and provide relevant analysis and reports.

    Reporting

    • Generate regular reports on donation income, donor demographics, campaign performance, etc. to support fundraising activities and organizational decision-making.
    • Provide ad-hoc reports as requested by the management team or other departments.
    • Ensure all reporting complies with relevant laws and regulations.

    Team Leadership

    • Manage a team of 9 employees (6 on the Gift Processing Team and 3 on the Analytics Team), including 2 direct reports
    • Lead, mentor, and develop the gift processing and analytics team, setting clear goals and expectations and providing regular feedback and support.
    • Foster a collaborative and inclusive work environment, encouraging open communication and team collaboration.
    • Coordinate with other departments and functions, including across the broader Budget and Finance team globally as well as Resource Development and IT, to ensure smooth cross-functional operations.

    Process and Policy

    • Develop policies for gift processing, data management, and donor privacy as the need arises.
    • Regularly review and update these policies to stay compliant with laws and best practices.
    • Train staff on these policies and ensure their understanding and compliance

    What qualifications are required to be our Director of Gift Processing and Analytics?

    • Prior professional experience in the fundraising operations/gift processing space, as part of either a Finance or Development department
    • Managerial experience, ideally of at least 2 direct reports or overseeing a small team
    • Data analysis skills, particularly with financial analysis and fundraising metrics
    • Intermediate or greater experience using CRMs, Financial ERPs, Business Intelligence tools, and Microsoft Excel; experience using Microsoft Office Suite
    • Strong people management skills – ability to listen, learn, and coach, and work effectively with a distributed team
    • Ability to multi-task and prioritize multiple projects at once
    • Excellent communication skills; ability to translate between fundraising and financial aspects of the philanthropic world.
    • Ability to see both the micro details and the macro big picture
    • Interpersonal skills, interest in colleagues, and a drive for relationship building and cross-functional work
    • Ability to work well both on one’s own and with others
    • Proactive and resourceful approach, process-oriented
    • Curiosity, growth mindset, and willingness to ask questions
    • Ability to read words and numbers, operate a computer keyboard and other office equipment, and communicate in person or over the telephone

    Additional Preferred Skills and Competencies:

    • Direct experience with Finance or working within a Finance department
    • Experience using Raiser’s Edge or Raiser’s Edge NXT, SAP, and/or Power BI
    • Passion for humanitarian work and/or global Jewish service strongly preferred

    • Employment Type: Full-Time
    • Hours: 35 hours/week, 8:45 AM – 4:45PM with a 1-hour lunch break
    • Location: Hybrid from New York, NY in office Tuesdays and Thursdays
    • Reports to: Director of Budget Operations

    What are the compensation and benefits for a Director of Gift Processing & Analytics?

    This is a full-time position paid semi-monthly at a salary of $120,000-$150,000 per year; in determining where a candidate falls in that range JDC considers several factors, including skills and experience, internal equity, and cost of living in location of work. This role is exempt per the FLSA.
