    Full Time

    This position is considered remote, 0-1 days onsite at 10 Brookline Place, Brookline, MA each week. DFCI guidelines state that employees must reside in New England: Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Rhode Island, or Vermont.

    General Summary: 

    The Officer position is responsible for helping the Division of Philanthropy achieve their revenue goals by supporting a large portfolio of volunteer-run community events and consulting with them on fundraising best practices and deepening their connection to Dana-Farber. This position also oversees all recognition initiatives and events in place to steward community event organizers and strategizes on new ways to acknowledge and show appreciation to the program’s generous supporters. Further details on this role are outlined in the Primary Duties and Responsibilities section below.

    The onboarding of this role will include a comprehensive training process which includes completion of online modules, shadowing colleagues, as well as hands-on learning experiences throughout the first calendar year in the role.

    Dana-Farber is currently undertaking an ambitious fundraising effort to change the future of cancer research and care: The Dana-Farber Campaign. This multibillion-dollar campaign is the largest in the Institute’s history and one of the largest ever in the U.S. focused solely on cancer. Philanthropy raised through The Dana-Farber Campaign is focused on accelerating the Institute’s strategic priorities by supporting revolutionary science, extraordinary care, exceptional expertise, and essential opportunities—helping us prevent, treat, and Defy Cancer.

    Responsibilities:

    Main Point of Contact for Volunteer-Run Community Events

    Note: Jimmy Fund staff serve as main points of contact to each volunteer-run community event that fundraise in support of Dana-Farber and the Jimmy Fund.

      • Primary event contact for a large portfolio of volunteer-run community events and organizers.
      • This role includes:
      • Intentionally connecting with entire pool of Community Fundraising event (CFE) donors in meaningful ways that move the relationship forward, maximize fundraising, and further connect the donor to the DFCI mission.
      • Renewing and retaining a pool of inactive Community Fundraising donors by renewing fundraising support or connecting to a new opportunity for giving at Dana-Farber.
      • Attending select events as assigned to speak on behalf of Dana-Farber.
      • Completing regular donor visits and following all visits with a summary report.
      • Ensuring compliance by event organizers to Dana-Farber policies and procedures

    Stewardship Program Management

    • Responsible for overseeing stewardship initiatives and events under the supervision of the Senior Associate Director.
    • Develop and execute strategic project plans and budgets for all stewardship-related programs, initiatives, and events, continually assessing how to best streamline and evolve these initiatives to be most impactful and cost-efficient.
    • Manage internal relationship with the Donor Experience & Engagement team.
    • Lead the planning of Community Fundraising’s stewardship events, including managing all logistics and speaking programs.
    • Reports and publication distribution
    • Recognition awards, publications, and spaces
    • Miscellaneous Stewardship Projects

    Lead strategy for engaging “Next Generation” of donors

    • Develop and execute a strategic project plan for engaging the next generation of Jimmy Fund Golf supporters (young professional and youth groups).
    • Collaborate with other Jimmy Fund teams on larger initiatives and long-term strategies.

    Administrative/Other Tasks

    • Manage other administrative projects as assigned to help meet Operating Plan goals.
    • Assist with internal fundraising events as they are developed.
    • Create project plans and debrief reports as assigned.
    • Develop a working knowledge of all Philanthropy Division systems (ClearView, Luminate, EMS, PeopleSoft, etc.).
    • Attend all mandatory meetings required of this position.

    Supervisory Responsibilities:

    Reports to Assistant Director, Donor Experience & Engagement. The position is programmatic in nature and a considerable amount of responsibility in completing work-related tasks is required.

    Qualifications:

    High school diploma or equivalency required. Associates/Bachelors degree preferred. 2+ years relevant work experience required.

    Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required:

    • Excellent organizational skills, project management skills, and attention to detail.
    • Strong customer service and written and verbal communication skills.
    • Strong computer skills, particularly with database management.
    • Effective in working with wide audiences, including highest level of DFCI constituents.
