StratéGenius was founded in 2001 in Berkeley, California, and is one of the only BIPOC-owned search firms partnering exclusively with independent K-12 schools and small education nonprofits. StratéGenius’s core tenet is to promote and champion equity and belonging in education by improving diversity among independent school teachers and leaders. Our definition of diversity encompasses a growing number of dimensions including neurodiversity and gender identity, to name a few, in addition to race, class, sexual orientation, and religious practice.
At StratéGenius, we take a unique approach to recruiting and placement. To start, all of our search consultants are BIPOC educators with nearly 75 years of combined independent school experience. Secondly, we bring out the best in candidates by making sure their application materials properly highlight their qualifications and talents – if you look good, we look good! Finally, we advocate tirelessly for candidates, especially those from underrepresented communities. We take seriously our opportunity to engage (and challenge) school communities and help search committees create and follow equitable hiring practices.
