    About Wild Nest Bird Rehab: Wild Nest Bird Rehab is a nonprofit organization dedicated to the rehabilitation and release of wild birds. Our mission is to provide rescue, rehabilitation, and release services for wild birds, and to educate the public on the importance of wildlife conservation. We are committed to nurturing the connection between people and the natural world, fostering a deep appreciation and respect for wildlife.

    Position Summary: The Development Committee Chair is a pivotal role within Wild Nest Bird Rehab, focusing on leading the organization's efforts to secure funding through grants, business partnerships, and recurring donations. This volunteer position requires a passionate, dynamic, and strategic leader who can drive our fundraising activities, ensuring the sustainability and expansion of our rehabilitation efforts. The Chair will work closely with the Board of Directors and the Treasurer to develop and implement a comprehensive fundraising strategy that aligns with our mission and values.


    Key Responsibilities:

    • Fundraising Strategy Development: Lead the creation and execution of an effective fundraising strategy focused on expanding grant opportunities, securing business sponsorships, and increasing recurring gifts from individual donors.
    • Grant Management: Identify grant opportunities, oversee the grant application process, and ensure timely submission of proposals and reports. Cultivate relationships with foundations and grant-making organizations.
    • Business Partnerships: Develop and maintain partnerships with businesses and corporate sponsors. Create sponsorship packages and pitch to potential partners, highlighting the benefits of supporting wildlife rehabilitation and conservation.
    • Donor Engagement: Spearhead initiatives to grow our base of recurring donors. Develop engaging campaigns and donor recognition programs to encourage ongoing support.
    • Committee Leadership: Lead and motivate the Development Committee, fostering a collaborative and productive environment. Recruit new committee members with the skills necessary to advance our fundraising goals.
    • Reporting and Analysis: Monitor and report on fundraising progress to the Board of Directors. Utilize data and analytics to refine fundraising strategies and increase effectiveness.
    • Collaborative Event Planning: Collaborate with other committees in the planning and execution of fundraising events, working with different committees and volunteers to ensure successful outcomes.


    Qualifications:

    • Demonstrated experience in fundraising, development, or a similar field, with a successful track record of securing grants, business sponsorships, and donations.
    • Excellent leadership and team management skills, with the ability to inspire and mobilize volunteers towards common goals.
    • Strong communication and relationship-building skills, capable of engaging with a variety of stakeholders, including donors, business leaders, and community members.
    • Strategic thinker with the ability to develop and implement effective fundraising strategies.
    • Passionate about wildlife conservation and the mission of Wild Nest Bird Rehab.
    • Flexibility to attend meetings and events outside of regular business hours.
