Help Install Smoke Detectors and Save Lives - Join our Home Fire Campaign Team

Purpose: Save lives and prevent injury by being a member of the Home Fire Campaign team. Specific roles could vary, including being a member of Home Visit teams to install smoke alarms and educate residents,conduct neighborhood canvassing, facilitate planning events, and more according to local program needs and structure.

Responsibilities: The Preparedness Division provides appropriate preparedness programming within a community to assist community members to prepare for home fires and other disasters.

This position is responsible for the tasks involved to implement the preparedness program including:

1. Support the annual preparedness goals, RDO objectives, and regional/chapter plan for preparedness

programming through participation in meetings, projects, and local preparedness activities;

2. Execute assigned projects and local preparedness activities according to the activities you are trained in:

Home Fire Campaign;

3. Serve clients and/or support Red Cross team members in providing residents with free smoke alarm

installations and fire safety education; and 4. Complete tasks such as implementing preparedness activities,

meeting with partners to build relationships, conducting inventory, and procuring or receiving necessary

preparedness supplies.

Time Commitment: 5-10 hours per weekend, once a quarter on average

Qualifications:

1) Ability to relate effectively with diverse groups and individuals;

2) Excellent interpersonal, and verbal communication skills;

3) Demonstrated ability to read, understand, and review program guidelines and tools

Relationships: Works closely with all other Home Fire Campaign team members to ensure team goals are achieved.

Complete all relevant online/in-person training and review all relevant preparedness program materials that are posted on The Exchange.
