Are you recovered from an eating disorder? Are you a Christian and want to use your faith and recovery experience to encourage others who are struggling to break free? If so, a Faith-based Support Group Leader volunteer role may be just the fit for you!

DC-based nonprofit Rock Recovery provides affordable and accessible eating disorder therapy and support services for teens and adults who struggle with eating disorders. Rock Recovery offers virtual faith-based support groups to provide accountability and encouragement to those who wish to integrate faith into their recovery journey. You can learn more about our groups at https://www.rockrecoveryed.org/faith-based-support-groups.

Some examples of what you may do as a faith support group leader include:

    • Facilitating group discussion in a group setting of 8 - 12 attendees
    • Managing zoom technology and breakout rooms during the group
    • Watching video lessons and working with a co-leader to prepare discussion questions (Lasting Freedom & New ID only)
    • Preparing and leading weekly recovery devotionals and discussion questions (Set Free only)

    • Taking group attendance

Faith support volunteers lead Rock Recovery's six-week virtual support groups by reviewing the curriculum and videos, leading discussion and providing spiritual encouragement for group members. Groups can range from three to 20 participants, and always include a main group leader and a co-leader. Faith support leaders are provided thorough training and support as they begin leading support groups. Leaders are required to pass a criminal background check, sign a volunteer waiver and sign a statement of faith.
