    Description

    Minneapolis Central Library is in need of materials handling volunteers to help shift ranges of books in History & Social Sciences on the 4th floor.  


    Our 41 libraries, website and outreach services serve residents in every corner of Hennepin County. In addition to a collection of almost 5 million physical books, CDs and DVDs, you can access more than 400,000 eBooks and audiobooks from almost any device.

    Location and hours:

    Minneapolis Central Library located at 300 Nicollet Mall Minneapolis, MN 55401 on

    History & Social Sciences (4th floor).

    Flexible shifts on Monday - Friday during business hours, 9am – 5pm for individuals looking to come in weekly/regularly. A weekly schedule can be determined with the program manager upon referral.

    In this volunteer position, you will:

    • Shift books in the stacks as part of a larger reorganization of this space.  This involves taking books off shelves, moving them via a cart, and relocating them onto another shelf. 
    • Keep books in order. 
    • Operate compact shelving. 

    Need to Have:

    •  The ability to bend, push, reach, and lift up to 30 pounds.
    • Little or no sensitivity to dust. 


    Training provided by Program Coordinator, supervision by designated Hennepin County Library staff member.
