    Description

Native Plant Seeding at Sunktokeca WMA in Faribault

Join Great River Greening at Sunktokeca Creek Wildlife Management Area. The WMA is a complex of mesic woodland, prairie, and wetland. We are actively controlling invasive species, such as buckthorn, seeding prairie and trees, improving the forest species composition, and restoring wetlands.

The intent is to acquire more conservation land and improve wildlife habitat in the watershed and provide recreational opportunities to the public. Volunteers will be hand-spreading tree and prairie seeds and raking.

Please note there are two shifts available: noon - 2pm and 5:30pm - 7:30pm.

Distance from the parking lot to the work area(s) is between 800-1200 ft. There are no trails, but the vegetation is short and easy to traverse.

This is a family-friendly event. Volunteers of all ages and backgrounds are encouraged to attend. No previous knowledge or experience is necessary, we will provide the tools and training required.

There will also be light snacks and extra water available, however, please bring your own reusable water bottle and any additional snacks you may need.

Once you have registered via GivePulse, organizers from Great River Greening will approve your registration and you will receive confirmation. You will continue to receive event reminders as the event nears.

If you have further questions, please contact Jessica at jdrummond@greatrivergreening.org.
