    Who we are:

    EmpowHERto is a registered non-profit organization based in Toronto and Fort Lauderdale. EmpowHERto partners with girls and young women from underserved communities between 14-21, empowering them with the necessary tools to thrive and effect positive systemic change. Our aim is to offer programs in leadership, health and wellness, financial literacy, and STEAM, designed to boost their confidence and enhance their leadership skills in every area of life. We firmly believe that every girl has the potential to become a success story and our mission is to equip them with the skills and knowledge needed to make their dreams a reality.

    Recruitment Purpose:

    EmbraceHER is a multi-week mental health & wellness workshop for minority girls aged 14-21 being facilitated by EmpowHERto.

    About the role: We are looking for a volunteer who can help us coordinate and implement this in-person program.

    Responsibilities:

    You will be involved right from planning to implementation and evaluation. Your tasks will include:

    • Coordinating and corresponding with external agencies, resource persons, therapists, facilitators, etc. to ensure the smooth functioning of the program
    • Help with logistical arrangements including venue, refreshments, etc.
    • Working with the outreach team to obtain sponsorships and the marketing team to ensure social media promotion
    • Collaborating with the teen membership coordinators to engage participants
    • Working with the events time on the program event
    • Responsible for attendance taking at weekly workshops/learning sessions
    • Responsible for communications with participants (testimonials, etc.)
    • Carrying the required material to and from the venue
    • Managing set-up before and clear-up after the workshops
    • Management of participant feedback
    • Any other work as may be required


    Qualifications:

    • Training in a related field: Mental Health, Social Work, Education, etc.
    • Lived experience or familiarity with challenges faced by minority youth from underserved communities.
    • Minimum one year of experience in program/ project/ event management.

    Requirements/ Competencies:

    • Excellent time-management and organizational skills
    • Detail-oriented and efficient
    • Tech savvy, proficient in MS Office
    • Must submit a criminal background check
