    Description

    Wildlife rehabilitation intern

    Rescue, Rehabilitate and Release.

    We offer an internship program for people aged 18-35 (exceptions can be made) with a passion for wildlife and the drive to make a difference. You will be a part of raising and caring for orphaned, injured and sick wildlife. Species in our care vary from squirrels, skunks and raccoons to opossums, otters, black bears and many more.

    Board and room are provided. We take a $225 deposit to secure your place, $200 of which is returned to the intern at the end of their stay. There are no other costs involved.

    Tasks include but are not limited to:

    1.    Feeding neonate, adult, and juvenile animals.

    2.    Cleaning animal closures, doing laundry, and cleaning the triage centre.

    3.    Administrating medications, first aid, and wound care.

    4.    Participating in building projects and maintenance.

    5.    Assisting with rescues and releases of wildlife.

    6.    Properly restraining and capturing wildlife.

    Please note wildlife rehabilitation is not a 9-5. The official working day begins at 8:45am and ends around 8pm with several breaks throughout. Milk feeds can start at early as 6am and end as late as midnight. You are expected to work 5 days a week with two non-consecutive days off a week. We accept applications year round with more people needed in the summer months due to it being baby season. minimum of 8 weeks is required April - July. Minimum of 4 weeks August - March.
