Crime Lab New York is an independent and
privately-funded research organization dedicated to applying rigorous scientific methods to help policymakers
maximize resources used to address social challenges. As a university-based
research organization, Crime Lab New York uses gold
standard evaluation methods to show policy makers what works with unimpeachable
evidence so that resources can be allocated cost-effectively and to contribute
to a body of knowledge that cities can draw upon to improve the lives of youth.
Crime Lab New York engages very closely with
various city agencies – including the New York Police Department, the District
Attorney of New York, the Mayor’s Office of Criminal Justice, the
Administration of Children’s Services, NYCHA, the Office to Combat Domestic
Violence, and the Department of Homeless Services – to conduct research that is useful for policy- and decision-makers.
