  • About Us

Sapa O’Chau is a social-enterprise, based in Sapa, Vietnam. As Sapa is a mountainous area, children normally do not go to school or often drop out, as they have to help their parents earn money by selling trinkets on the street, working on rice fields or taking care of their younger siblings. Another reason is that school is so far from their villages. Hence, to the locals, going to school means walking 10 km in the early morning. As the only social-enterprise in Sapa founded and run by H’Mong people, we are proud of what we are doing to empower the local community. Currently we provide free education and accommodation to a group of 20 disadvantaged ethnic minority children from different backgrounds and of various ages. At the center, our students can learn English, Vietnamese, computer literacy, living skills, etc. We also support them to go back to Vietnamese school. After completing our program, the students can choose either to study further or go to vocational training. Sapa O’Chau also builds a bridge between our students and employment opportunities. With the knowledge and skills we provide, the students can find better jobs, rather than farming and selling handicraft. We are happy that the project is growing stronger and faster than ever!
