    The American Meteorological Society (AMS), founded in 1919, is a professional society of scientists, researchers, students, educators, broadcasters, and professionals working together to make a difference in the fields of weather, water, and climate research. The AMS community—which includes nearly 10,000 members—shares knowledge, improves technology, promotes understanding, and disseminates science to ensure that our planet—and the people on it—can thrive. AMS sponsors more than 12 conferences annually and offers numerous programs and services.
