About Us
The mission of the Green Mountain Club is to make the Vermont mountains play a larger part in the life of the people by protecting and maintaining the Long Trail System and fostering, through education, the stewardship of Vermont's hiking trails and mountains. The Long Trail is the oldest long distance hiking trail in the USA. It it is hundreds of miles long. The GMC works with dozens of volunteers every year, including people from all over the world. We provide room, board, and training to people who volunteer for any amount of time from one week to many months. We also hire dozens of seasonal staff who live in the mountains all summer doing physical labor and environmental education. We love to work with new people!
