First Congregational United Church of Christ, Appleton

  • About Us

We are a diverse and inclusive Christian community called by God through the life and teachings of Jesus to grow in Spirit, to share our faith experiences, to serve others, to work promote hope and work toward peace in the world, and to welcome all God’s people.

    Our beliefs and values:

We welcome and affirm the diversity of all people in our community. As an Open and Affirming congregation of the United Church of Christ, we are committed to inclusiveness and acceptance.

We practice an open-minded faith that embraces spiritual growth, learning and reason, welcoming the questions—and the doubts—that lead us toward deeper understanding.

We worship in ways that speak to minds, hearts and souls. Our pastors draw from the Bible as a whole, in the context of its own time, and show us ways in which these ancient lessons apply to our modern lives.

We teach God’s love and grace rather than fear or intolerance to each other and to our children.

We live widely, exploring our own community and the world, learning from the experiences of others and reaching out to those in need. We live out our faith daily, acting with compassion in a spirit of service and advocacy.

We strive to build transformative relationships with God and each other as we work toward a world fit for all God’s people.

We help each other become faithful and creative stewards of all that God has entrusted to us through our actions and our gifts.
