An affiliate chapter of the National Urban League, the Urban League of Louisiana was founded as a non-profit, nonpartisan, community-based organization in New Orleans in 1938. Since our inception, the Urban League has existed to enable and empower African Americans and other disadvantaged persons to secure economic self reliance, parity, power and civil rights. At our core, the Urban League of Louisiana is focused in the programmatic areas of education and youth development, economic and community development, and social justice and policy development to implement our strategic mission.
