The mission of The Nature Conservancy is to preserve plants, animals and natural communities that represent the diversity of life on Earth by protecting the lands and waters they need to survive. To date the Conservancy and its members have been responsible for the protection of more than 12 million acres in 50 states and Canada. It has helped like-minded partner organizations preserve millions of acres in Latin America, the Caribbean, the Pacific and Asia. Working cooperatively with other conservation groups, businesses and many levels of government, The Conservancy has protected 40,000 acres on Long Island.
