The Christopher Family Foundation

ABOUT THE FOUNDATION

The Christopher Family Foundation was created in 1997 by Jay W. and Doris K. Christopher, and is an outgrowth of The Pampered Chef, a business they founded in their home in 1980.

The Foundation, based in Hinsdale, Illinois, engages in philanthropic outreach in line with its mission and is governed by the Christopher Family Foundation Distribution Committee, which includes multiple generations of the Christopher family.

Much of the Christopher family's philanthropy is centered on the Chicago area and the Midwest.

The Christopher Family Foundation is dedicated to strengthening communities and families through a focus on access and equity. Rooted in a Christian perspective, we use our grant making to foster creativity and innovation and to build capacity and collaboration in our areas of funding priority.

After an extensive strategic-planning process, and a grant hiatus in 2018, the Christopher Family Foundation is now accepting applications again in our four core areas: 

• Education

• Employment & Entrepreneurship

• Individual & Family Health & Wellbeing

• Community & Fellowship

In addition to these four priority areas, the Foundation will occasionally pursue a special project of interest to one of the family members. Such special projects have included diabetes research, opportunities for urban children to experience nature, and special research into particular aspects of family health and wellbeing.
