  • About Us

    Background

Founded in 2016, Good Call is a community-centered tech nonprofit based in NYC working to disrupt the cycle of mass incarceration. Our mission is to empower communities of color and create systemic transformation by using technology and community organizing to provide immediate access to legal support. We do this in several ways:

    • Good Call’s arrest support hotline [1-833-3-GOODCALL] allows anyone to access free legal representation 24/7 if they or someone they know get arrested
    • Good Call’s Youth Justice program provides system-involved youth the opportunity to build community organizing skills and become champions for justice literacy in their own communities
    • Good Call advocates for policy reform in the criminal justice space

Good Call’s hotline and youth programming are currently focused in NYC, but our long term ambitions are national. Good Call's software products include our user-facing website, hotline app, and lawyer dashboard web app.

    The Players:

We are a group of intellectually curious, empowered and motivated people with a common thread of social justice propelling us forward. We are fueled by a passion for the eradication of White supremacy and systemic racism that routinely harm Black and Brown people the most. We thrive on being creative, collaborative self-starters that truly believe our commitment to transform this destructive narrative can expand beyond NYC, and change the nation and the world.

    The Leadership:

Founded in 2016, Good Call is motivated by a desire to use community organizing and technology to combat injustice by the police and criminal legal system. CEO/Co-Founder Jelani Anglin is a community organizer at heart, and is motivated by his belief in solidarity being the foundation for movements to succeed. As CEO, Jelani provides high level guidance and makes strategic decisions for the overall organization as well as the fundraising.

    The Commitment:

Good Call wants to ensure that those that come along for the journey are committed to helping us write the future. We also believe in true partnership, and want to become the premiere employer of people who are inspired by challenges, are committed to problem solving, and are as supportive as they are resourceful.
