Runaways Animal Rescue

  • About Us

Volunteering is such a big part of how we operate at RAR. Nearly everyday we take in new animals. Animals that need a lot of love and care. Wether they are strays found in the streets, owner surrenders, or us pulling animals from shelters that no longer have room for them, they all need our help.

    Why Volunteer?

    1. Being an animal shelter volunteer makes you feel part of the community. A community with a deep desire and passion to help some of the most vulnerable members of our city. Members with no voice of their own.

    2.  Your help will never go unnoticed. A lot of our animals have had limited interactions with humans in their lifetime, or in some cases not very positive interactions. They need to learn to trust and love humans. It's quite amazing how quickly personalities begin to shine through when they see regular smiling facing coming to care for them on a daily basis.

    3. Volunteering is good for YOU! Yes, thats right. It has been proven over and over that spending time with animals helps lower your stress and blood pressure. Caring for pets can also help with depression and anxiety, which ultimately improves your emotional and mental health.

    4. You gain professional and life experiences while fostering a new area of interest. There are a variety of volunteer jobs we have available:

    • Dog Walker
    • Cat Caretaker
    • Transporter (vet services)
    • Outreach and Education
    • Pet Therapy
    • Training
    • Marketing, Fundraising, Events
    • Custodial Cleaning
