The goals of the Missouri River Communities Network are: to increase awareness and involvement of citizens in Missouri River planning that considers multiple uses including topics such as navigation, agriculture, flood storage, recreation, riverfront development, tourism, historical preservation, land use, ecosystem restoration, and water quality; to inform agricultural land owners about support systems for instituting best management practices along the river; to help plan for historic preservation and tourism in the Missouri River corridor; to promote compatible economic development opportunities along the Missouri River; to encourage improvement of water quality and maintenance of water supply in the river.
