  • Mission

The Mokolodi Wildlife Foundation is a non-profit organization, registered as a society under the Societies Act (Registration Number SOC052231123BW), and serves as the governing body of Mokolodi Nature Reserve.

Our mission is centered around conservation and education, with a core focus on the Mokolodi Education Centre, which is dedicated to teaching the children of Botswana about Nature Conservation and Environmental Education. Each year, we welcome between 9,000 and 12,000 students to the Education Centre, while the wider reserve receives approximately 60,000 to 70,000 visitors annually.

To sustain our educational programs and conservation efforts, we rely on the income generated through accommodation, conferencing, and tourism activities offered at Mokolodi Nature Reserve. These activities not only fund the running costs of the reserve and Education Centre but also support our mission to promote environmental awareness and protect Botswana’s natural heritage for future generations.

    About Us

The Mokolodi Wildlife Foundation governs Mokolodi Nature Reserve, a non-profit conservation area located just outside Gaborone, Botswana. Established to serve both people and wildlife, the Foundation focuses on creating a sustainable balance between environmental preservation and community engagement.

Since opening its gates, Mokolodi has become a unique space where conservation, education, and tourism intersect. The reserve spans 3,800 hectares and is home to iconic species such as White Rhino, giraffe, zebra, kudu, eland, and even free-roaming leopards, among many others. It also houses a Conservation Centre and Animal Sanctuary, featuring birds of prey, a cheetah, and six African wild dogs, as well as a Reptile Park with snakes, tortoises, and other reptiles.

Our White Rhino breeding project and Vulture Rehabilitation Program reflect our long-term commitment to protecting threatened species and restoring ecosystems.

For education, Mokolodi offers two dedicated centres, each capable of hosting 40 boys, 40 girls, and 4 teachers. Visiting educators and volunteers are accommodated in a 9-bedroom volunteer house, which also supports those assisting at the Education Centre.

Through our immersive facilities and hands-on approach, we strive to educate, conserve, and inspire—while protecting Botswana’s natural heritage for generations to come.
