The Early Childhood Funders Collaborative (ECFC) is a partnership of foundations committed to improving the lives of young children through increasing philanthropic investment in young children and improving the effectiveness of investments. ECFC members have been learning together and improving our collective positive impact for children birth to 8 years old for over 20 years.

    Our Vision

All children have an equitable opportunity for healthy development and learning, in the context of their families and communities.

    Our Mission:

ECFC has two primary goals for our work together.  We will increase the effectiveness of philanthropic investment in system, equity-focused approaches to early childhood. We will promote federal, state, and local policies and practices that support young children, their families, and the early childhood community.

    What We Do:

    • Learning & Networking – ECFC provides substantive member briefings and meetings, connections with top researchers and practitioners, and
    • Aligning and Leveraging Resources – ECFC’s work includes launching the BUILD initiative and funding the Early Learning Challenge Collaborative to build capacity among states applying for federal early childhood grants.
    • Promoting Effective Local, State, and Federal policy- ECFC has sponsored policy briefings, shared our learning with policymakers at all levels, and promoted public-private partnerships.

ECFC is embarking on a new strategic plan that includes hiring its first Executive Director, growing membership, and increasing our impact by working with partners in philanthropy, policy, and the non-profit sector.
