CASA of Bristol County is an independent 501c3 nonprofit. Its mission is to recruit, train and supervise court-appointed volunteers who zealously advocate for the best interest of children who have been or are at risk for abuse or neglect. There are no other programs in Massachusetts that do what CASA does and its impact is dramatic. CASA volunteers learn about the child's family and life, engage in regular visits with the child, report best interest recommendations to the court and collaborate with others to ensure services are provided to children and their families in their community. Children with CASAs have significantly fewer foster care placements, perform better in school, and report having a greater sense of hopefulness. They are also less likely to re-enter the foster care system after exiting and more likely to be adopted if they do not return to their birth family.
