City Pride/Leaps in Literacy

Brockton, MA

  • About Us

City Pride is a 10 month AmeriCorps program which brings together a diverse group of men and women responding to Brockton's most urgent needs. It is through the Leaps in Literacy program that members address the important issue of literacy in Brockton's elementary and preschools. Leaps in Literacy is an intergenerational literacy program, which brings volunteers into elementary schools to work with pre-k through 4th graders. The goals of the program are to improve their reading skills and to increase their love of reading. In addition to being reading coaches, members are responsible for curriculum planning, site coordination, volunteer recruitment and support, and parent and family involvement projects.
