EUROCHIPS is a network currently working in sixteen European countries on behalf of children with imprisoned parents. The network seeks to sensitize a greater number of people to issues concerning children of imprisoned parents; to spread knowledge and ideas on the subject; and to do more and better work for these children. The latter includes promoting initiatives aimed at improving their situation (i.e. child-friendly visits areas in prisons), particularly in terms of maintaining links when separated from an imprisoned parent--a right enshrined in the 1989 UN Convention of the Rights of the Child.
