Chassida Smella- Ethiopian Community of North America

NY

  • About Us

Chassida Shmella is important because we seek to bring education to American ,Israeli and Ethiopian-Israeli's about the customs and traditions of Ethiopian Jews.

We hope to preserve Ethiopia's rich Jewish heritage which was been apart of history since Biblical times. Our first program was on Nov. 23rd, 2004. It was a celebration of the 20th anniversary of Operation Moses. It was held in coorperation with the City Council. Over 600 people attended at City hall.

We seek to continue our Jewish heritage within the United States and host several other fesitvals and celebrations. Currently we are working on hosting Sigd in NYC at the 92nd Street Y on October 10th. Everyone is welcome!
