    Volunteer Alexandria formerly the Alexandria Volunteer Bureau (AVB) is a nonprofit volunteer clearinghouse that promotes, supports, and facilitates effective volunteerism in Alexandria, VA. Working with both individuals and more than 400 community agencies and programs, Volunteer Alexandria helps to meet a wide range of Alexandria's social, educational, health, and community needs. In addition to a volunteer referral program, Volunteer Alexandria provides supportive services to local nonprofit agencies and volunteer coordinators, and operates a youth volunteer program, a court-referred community service program, a community work experience program for welfare recipients, and one-time volunteer programs for groups and businesses.
